A New Community Coordinator for Bude
Ali Rowe, the new Community Coordinator of the MCTI project to produce a Bude Area Community Plan, started work on 20th July. She joins the Bude Partnership to assist with a new 20 year Strategic Plan. In the first instance, this will include studying the old plans and investigating why these have not been implemented. She will be consulting widely with local people in the Bude Area to determine what the main themes should be for the new plan.
Ali grew up in North Cornwall where her father was the Headmaster of Launceston College. She has wide experience that has included many years at Director level in the NHS as Chief Executive of the North Cornwall PCG and also as Cornwall Modernisation Director), more recently she has been working for Harpers Home Mix Ltd in Holsworthy. Some years ago, Alison spent some time as a consultant for Business Link Devon and Cornwall and for the North Tamar Business Network based in Bude.
Her first priority is to understand what has held up the implementation of other Bude plans so that the Bude Partnership can be better to prepared to ensure implementation of the new plan. Ali says that her role is 'not to re-invent the wheel, but to understand why the wheels previously developed in Bude have not managed to roll down the road!' She will be running conferences to pull together interested parties and individuals to learn from previous experience and to hear what new ideas there are.
'Bude has many things going for it, I grew up rowing on the canal and swimming in the sea at every opportunity' Ali says 'I am really excited to have the chance to work with Bude people to determine the strengths and opportunities that there are for Bude. We have a wonderful project already underway with the regeneration of the canal and we now have the chance to link in to this and regenerate the whole town.'
