What is the Bude Partnership?

Some of you may have heard of it, but those of you who haven't here's a quick intro.

In November 2005, Mark Hall, Chief Executive of NCDC, attended the Bude Town Meeting and challenged Bude to ' get its act together ' and for each community, voluntary and business organisation to talk and work together in a cohesive partnership, which would benefit everyone in Bude and its surrounding area.

Initially the Bude and District Forum took the 'job' on but another, sister organisation 'Bude Partnership Cornwall' has been set up as a Company Limited by Guarantee (a charity) to ensure that Bude 'get its act together'. The partnership includes: local business people, Bude & Area Chamber of Commerce, Budehaven Community School, Bude Youth Project, Bude Area Tourist Board, Citizens Advice Bureau, Bude Police, Bude-Stratton Town Council, and representatives from the Town Council and the North Cornwall District Council Cornwall County Council. The list is still growing !

Bude Partnership has launched a new logo for Bude, which will be seen soon, on flags to be erected throughout the town. Bude now has a fresh, new image, which can be used to promote Bude and become an identity for the town, something previously not achieved.

Market and Coastal Towns Initiative MTCi

The Bude Partnership has also been successful in obtaining a grant from the MCTA (Market and Coastal Towns Association) as part of their Market and Coastal Towns Initiative (MCTI) to allow the development of a new 25 year strategic plan for Bude. This is due to be published early in 2008. The Partnership will then also seek the funding and support necessary to ensure implementation of the plan. Community Coordinator

Using the funds from MCTi, a Community Coordinator (Ali Rowe) was appointed during the summer of 2007 and she is now working to assist the partnership to develop the new MCTi Strategic Plan. Her first task has been to review all the previous Bude Plans and Studies and during autumn 2007 will set up public consultation in preparation for writing the new plan.
